First things first, you're going to want to consider the scene that you are shooting. For this technique, the background of the image will remain still with ghostly figures in the foreground. So you might want to add some creepy props into the background.
Place your camera on your tripod
Once you’ve got your location sorted, next you need to set up your camera. Set your camera on your tripod, and make sure all moving parts are locked down.
Set the camera to bulb and set the ISO and aperture.
Set your camera to bulb and set the ISO and aperture for the shutter speed you are going to be using. Around 5-10 seconds works well.
An easy way to find this is to set your camera to shutter priority, select the shutter speed you are going to be using and note down the aperture that the camera suggests. Remember this, and select it when you turn your camera back to bulb.
Set the camera to manual focus and focus the camera.
Switch your camera to manual focus, and ensure the focus is set. Live view can be particularly handy for this.
Connect your Triggertrap Mobile Kit
Now connect your Triggertrap kit to your camera and smartphone.
Open the timed release mode and set your exposure time.
Open up the Triggertrap app and select the timed release mode. With the time release mode open, enter your exposure time.
Double check your volume is set to full.
Ensure your volume on your device is set to full. If you're on Android, be sure to check that it is the media volume that is set to full.
