What you'll learn
1. Understand what's in the Triggertrap Mobile Kit
2. How to connect the kit to the camera
3. How to set the camera to play nicely with Triggertrap Mobile
Congratulations! You’ve just picked up the world’s best smartphone camera remote! Now you might be wondering, “how do I get this thing working?!” This short tutorial will get you up and running with Triggertrap Mobile in no time.
A bit of theory
The Triggertrap Mobile kit lets you connect your camera to your smartphone so that you can use your smartphone as the world’s best camera remote, perfect for long exposure, timelapse and high speed photography. Setting things up is really simple. Once you understand how to set things up, you should be well prepared to tackle any of our other ‘How To’s!
The Triggertrap Mobile kit comes in two parts. You have the camera connection cable (a cable with a 2.5mm plug on one end and a camera connector on the other end) and the mobile dongle (the black box with the TT on the front). Connect the connection cable to the mobile dongle.
Connect the other end of the connection cable to your camera. You’ll need to plug this into the remote port. On most cameras this is labeled with a small remote icon, but on some Nikon cameras it’s labeled ‘GPS’. If you’re not sure where to find the remote port on your camera, check the camera manual.
Turn up the volume to 100%. If you are using an Android device make sure that you’re turning the media volume up.
The finished setup
You should now have your Mobile Kit connected between your smart device and your camera! Your volume should be set to full and the camera should be set to manual focus.
