The first step is to set up the camera on the tripod. It’s pretty crucial to make sure everything is locked down as any movement could totally ruin the shot.
Adjust the camera settings.
The camera needs to be set to manual exposure, with a moderately low ISO to minimise the amount of digital noise. If you don’t know how to use your camera in manual settings, check out our manual exposure tutorial.
The camera should also be set to Bulb if you are using a cable release, or a very slow shutter speed if you are not.
Your aperture needs to be fairly wide in order to make sure you are letting enough light in.
You need to be in manual focus and focus your camera on whatever part of the frame you would like to keep sharp – for example, buildings on the other side of a road.
Choose your cable release.
Next you will need your cable release. The long exposure modes on Triggertrap Mobile are ideal for car trails.
