Once you’re all set up, try taking some photos. If your frames are way too bright, drop your flash power, increase your aperture or decrease your ISO. If things are too dark, do the opposite! You can experiment with the different combinations of flash power, aperture and ISO to get a feel for what you can do with the flash on manual. It can be a little fiddly and confusing at first, but stick with it. Once you master setting the flash on manual, you’ll find yourself saving lots of time and for some set ups, things will be much more consistent.
